The Challenge That Ruined Abou Diaby's Career Remains An Absolute Disgrace.
The Challenge that ruined Abou Diaby's career is still an embarrassment.
The terrible tackle that basically ended Abou Diaby's career many years ago received no red card and is still considered a shame.
The French midfielder, who was signed for £2 million from Auxerre, was an extraordinarily brilliant box-to-box midfielder who looked to be the heir to Patrick Vieira's reign.
During his career at the club, he sustained a total of 42 ailments, including ACL injury, five thigh muscle strains, 11 calf strains, two sprained ankles, three hamstring injuries, and a concussion.
And it was one injury in particular from which he never fully healed in 2006. Diaby intercepted a pass in stoppage time of Sunderland's 3-0 triumph.
